Dress Requirements

Ballet
For weekly classes in ballet the student may wear any style solid coloured body suit, ballet pink tights, ballet slippers. Preschool to Primary require a ballet skirt. Hair MUST be tied up off the face and neck in a bun. If your child takes exams then the following will be required:

•Pre-primary – Lilac leotard with short sleeves and matching wrap skirt; ballet pink, plain dance ankle socks; pink ballet shoes with elastic.
• Primary – RAD white short sleeve leotard; white skirt; ballet pink, plain dance ankle socks; pink ballet shoes with elastic.
• Grade 1 – RAD baby blue short-sleeved leotard; ballet pink, plain dance ankle socks; pink ballet shoes with elastic. Examination candidates require a black character skirt and black character shoes with a low heel.
• Grade 2 – as grade one, but with navy blue sleeveless leotard.
• Grades 3, 4, & 5 – as grade 2, but character shoes have high heel and leotard may have pinch in front. Ballet pink tights are worn instead of socks. No split soled shoes are allowed at these levels
• Grades 6, 7 & 8 – leotard and calf length chiffon skirt (style and colour to be decided by the teacher). Ballet tights; pink ballet shoes; character skirt and character shoes.

Vocational Levels – Intermediate Foundation to Advanced 2
• Black leotard, any style; pink tights; soft pink ballet shoes with ribbons. Pink pointe shoes with ribbons Intermediate to Advanced require broken down pointe shoes to be used as soft ballet shoes.

Boys
• Pre-primary & primary – white short sleeved leotard (which may be nylon, cotton or a blend) or a well-fitting white T-shirt with navy shorts. White ballet shoes in leather or canvas with white elastics and white ankle socks (which may be nylon, cotton or a blend).
Grades 1 & 2 – white short sleeved leotard (which may be nylon, cotton or a blend) or a wellfitting white T-shirt with navy shorts worn with a brown leather belt, approximately 1 inch wide. White ballet shoes in leather or canvas with white elastics and white ankle socks (which may be nylon, cotton or a blend).
• Grades 3 – 5 - white short sleeved leotard (which may be nylon, cotton or a blend) or a well-fitting white T-shirt with navy stirrup tights (which may be nylon, cotton or a blend). White ballet shoes in leather or canvas with white elastics and white ankle socks (which may be nylon, cotton or a blend) worn over stirrup tights.
• Character uniform – all candidates are required to wear character shoes or a suitable alternative with hard heels. Tap shoes with taps removed are acceptable as well as “dress shoes”.

Jazz
• Jazz pants, capri pants or leggings with solid coloured body suit preferably black, or close fitting top. Jazz shoes. Hair in ponytail. Absolutely no street clothing.

Lyrical Jazz
• Jazz attire. Beige jazz shoes.

Hip Hop
• Comfortable clothes. Dance runners – street shoes are not permitted in the dance studios.

Irish Dancing
• Dance attire. Irish dance shoes. Hair in ponytail.

Musical Theatre
• Dance clothes and jazz shoes.

Contemporary
• Leotard or unitard. Footless tights or leggings. Hair in ponytail.

Tap
• Leotard or unitard. Footless tights or leggings. Hair in ponytail. Lace up tap shoes, which after Tap 1 level should NOT be patent. Style Bloch 301 or Capezio CG55.
